Infineon and HighTec launch Rust ecosystem for AURIX™ microcontrollers*

Infineon Technologies AG, in collaboration with partners such as HighTec EDV-Systeme, has launched a new Rust ecosystem for AURIX™ microcontrollers, aimed at meeting the strict requirements of the automotive industry for software reliability and performance. This ecosystem includes HighTec's latest ISO 26262 ASIL D-certified Rust compiler, providing powerful development tools and support for AURIX™ TC3x and TC4x.

The HighTec Rust compiler integrates a pre-configured build system that provides easy access to the AURIX™ Rust ecosystem, including I/O libraries, drivers, Rust runtime, sample projects, and use cases for mixed integration with C/C++. Complementing AURIX™'s mature C/C++ compiler, the compiler ensures seamless integration between Rust and traditional C/C++ code, offering developers better interoperability.

In addition to the Rust compiler, the AURIX™ Rust ecosystem includes Infineon's TC37x Peripheral Access Library (PAC), a set of Bluewind peripheral drivers, Veecle's Rust runtime NOS, and tools from Lauterbach and PLS, providing comprehensive development support and tools for customers. This expanded AURIX™ Rust ecosystem also includes a comprehensive set of documentation to help developers evaluate and develop secure applications using Rust.
