Infineon launches new generation ZVS flyback converter chipset EZ-PD™ PAG2 to meet the needs of USB-C charging technology

Infineon Technologies AG’s latest secondary-side controlled ZVS flyback converter chipset, EZ-PD™ PAG2, is optimized for the needs of USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charging technology. The chipset integrates USB PD, synchronous rectifier and PWM controller, while supporting innovative non-complementary active clamp flyback and zero-voltage switching quasi-resonant flyback topologies, which improves efficiency and is suitable for energy-efficient USB -C adapter, charger and travel adapter.

The powerful EZ-PD PAG2 series chipset supports PD 3.1 standard power range (SPR) and extended power range (EPR) for fast and reliable charging. The chipset is also compatible with charging protocols such as BC v1.2, AFC, Apple Charge and QC5.0, and supports universal AC line input worldwide, improving usability.

The flexibility and adaptability of the EZ-PD PAG2 series chipsets make them ideal for charging equipment and devices in different regions. This series of chipsets includes four dedicated products, namely secondary-side ACF controller EZ-PD PAG2S-AC, ZVS controller EZ-PD PAG2S-QZ, primary-side high-voltage startup controller EZ-PD PAG2P and integrated synchronous rectifier ( SR) USB PD controller EZ-PD PAG2S-PS. These products have their own unique features, including efficient energy recovery, USB-PD protocol functionality, high-voltage startup, PET receivers, gate drivers, fault protection, etc., to meet the needs of different applications.

In short, Infineon's EZ-PD™ PAG2 series chipset provides an efficient and flexible power management solution for USB-C charging technology, meeting the market's demand for highly compatible chargers.
