STMicroelectronics’ ST87M01 module receives Vodafone NB-IoT certification

STMicroelectronics announced on August 31 that their ST87M01 NB-IoT and GNSS module has obtained Vodafone’s NB-IoT certification. The ST87M01 module integrates mobile IoT access and geo-positioning functions. It is characterized by miniaturization, low power consumption and integration, and is suitable for various IoT and smart industrial applications.

The ST87M01 module has also received certification from the Global Certification Forum (GCF), an organization that promotes product interoperability for mobile networks and IoT products. The module complies with 3GPP Release 15 technical specifications and provides greater multi-zone LTE coverage.

The ST87M01 module integrates reliable geolocation functions and long-term reliable mobile network connection functions to meet the needs of emerging large-scale IoT applications. For example, smart traffic hazard warning lights will be written into Spanish traffic regulations in 2026. The new lights replace the triangular-shaped passive hazard warning lights on the car and are capable of sending real-time car geolocation to local traffic management systems in the event of an accident, in line with the European Road Safety Charter.
