The Texas Instruments model XTR105U is an operational amplifier, monolithic 4-20mA two-wire current transmitter with two precision current sources. It provides complete current excitation for a platinum RTD temperature sensor and bridge, instrumentation amplifier, and current output circuit on a single integrated circuit.
The XTR105U instrumentation amplifier gain is configurable for a wide range of temperature or pressure measurements. The total unadjusted error of the entire current transducer is low enough to allow use without adjustment in many applications. This includes zero output current drift, span drift, and non-linearity. The XTR105 operates from loop supply voltages as low as 7.5V. A general-purpose linearizer provides second-order correction to the RTD, typically achieving a 40:1 improvement in linearity.
